—Raven Camoran[1]
Raven Camoran, also known as the Sponsor was a powerful Altmer assasin and the son of Mankar Camoran. Along with his sister, Ruma, he served as a lieutenant in their father's cult,[1][2] the Mythic Dawn—a group of Mehrunes Dagon worshippers responsible for the assassination of Uriel Septim VII in 3E 433 as part of their attempt to bring about the destruction of Nirn.[3] As a son of Mankar Camoran and therefore likely a grandson of Camoran Usurper he had ties to the royal Camoran Dynasty of Valenwood.[4][5]
History[edit]
Little is known about Raven Camoran's past and origins. He was identified as the son of Mankar Camoran, leader of the Mythic Dawn cult. However, the Commentaries suggest that the nature of his and his sister Ruma's creation was a more metaphysical event. According to them Ruma was remade after initially rejecting the Dagonite path, and that "blackbirds formed her twin behind all time".[6] According to some sources, Ruma gave birth to herself, and her father was the father. She also gave birth to her brother, but he was not her son.[UOL 1]
He was an active member of the cult by 3E 433, the final year of the Third Era, following the assassination of Emperor Uriel Septim VII.[1] During this time, his name also appeared on the Waterfront District tax records maintained by Watch Captain Hieronymus Lex.[7]
He served as the Sponsor within the Mythic Dawn, penning instructions for prospective initiates and overseeing their induction into the cult. One such recruit he pursued was Gwinas, a Bosmeri scholar and avid student of the Commentaries. Raven was scheduled to meet Gwinas in the Imperial City sewers for his initiation.[8] However, Gwinas was intercepted by the agents of the Blades—Baurus and the Hero of Kvatch—who sought to meet him instead in order to obtain the fourth volume of the Commentaries.[9][10] The details of the meeting were unclear, but it concluded with the agent obtaining the Fourth Volume from Raven, who was been killed that day.[1][10][11]
Regardless, Raven eventually returned to Paradise, granted a form of immortality as long as his father remained alive. Mankar's followers would reform in the realm if they ever died, wherever their death took place.[2][11] There, he ultimately faced off against the Hero of Kvatch, fighting alongside his sister and father. He met his end when Mankar Camoran was slain and Paradise began to crumble.[1][12]
