Surilie Brothers Vineyards Branding

The Surilie family are Bretonic vintners whose history stretches through at least three eras. They produce some of the best wines in Tamriel, with it being particularly famous in Cyrodiil. The family is synonymous with their brand name, the Surilie Brothers Winery (Surilie Brothers for short), or the Surilie Farms. By the end of the Third Era, their base of operations was located at the wine-producing capital of Tamriel, Skingrad, where they established the Surilie Vineyards. At that time, they had a friendly rivalry with the Tamika Winery. When asked if the wine from the Surilie or the Tamika Vineyards are better, Skingrad's citizens say that Tamika's is "every bit as good as the Surilie Brothers wines". However, Davide Surilie believes his creations are not as good as Tamika's wine but are more affordable.

History

During the later years of the Second Empire, beverages were already being produced at the Surilie Farms. By the Interregnum of the Second Era, they developed the Surilie Syrah Wine, and Surilie Bros. White Merlot recipes, whose key ingredient was the Surilie Grape. Originating from the family itself, Surilie Grapes saw great use during the Second Era and it was not uncommon to find it in stored in containers throughout Tamriel. When the Surilies came to Skingrad is unknown, but their prominence would be established sometime in the future. With Colovia's prosperity for most of the Second Era, wine production motifs would populate the overland, and immigrants from other provinces settled and brought their own techniques and recipes to the area. Surilie grapes were grown in bountiful harvests in the West Weald along with other kinds of grapes such as the jazbay, pinot, and allegran variants. During this time period, Surilie Grapes saw great usage in Cyrodiilic recipes such as the Cheydinhal Sherry, Skingrad Muscat, and the Kvatch Watch Grenache. It would also be incorporated as an ingredient in the dishes in many cultures, such as the Orsinium Pink Zinfandel, Sour Guar Shein, and the Xanmeer Brandy. A shade of purplish pink dye associated with Heart's Day has been dubbed as "Surilie Wine".

Circa 3E 433, the Surilies were already established within Skingrad, and the heirs to the family legacy were Davide and Gaston Surilie. That same year, a crazed Bosmer named Glarthir became paranoid that a powerful organization that may be either the Blades, Marukhati Selectives, Mythic Dawn, or the Ayleid Revivalists was out to get him. Glathir believed Davide to be the ringleader of the people out to get him. He finally snapped and attempted to murder Davide with an axe, though it is unknown if Davide or Glathir was the victor. Later that year, the master alchemist Sinderion was a connoisseur of wines, and was known to provide alchemy training in return for both Tamika and Surilie Brother's vintage wine from 3E 399. It is said that Surilie Brother's wine from 3E 415 was well received, while those from 399 were a "once-in-a-lifetime experience".

The Surilie Brothers Vineyard at Skingrad was still active into the third century of the Fourth Era, where clientele would drink within its boundaries. Circa 4E 201, bottles of Surilie Brothers Wine was in circulation in the province of Skyrim, where some innkeepers and food vendors sold it. According to Delvin of the Riften Thieves Guild, the rare Shadowbanish Wine tastes better than anything the Surilie Brothers make.
