Contraband?

Why is this ring considered stolen and thus taken away from you when you get in trouble with the law? It's in the "evidence" chest along with all my other stolen goods. I got the ring from Larrius Varro and I only have the one, so I know I didn't steal the one from Dren Plantation yet. Perhaps since there's the two of them they both are marked as belonging to whoever owns Dren? The Warlock's Ring is also contraband? Azura's Servant too? Seems very strange to me... I think sometimes the guards take something else as 'compensation'. When I steal things, sometimes they'll take the thing I stole, the gold I give them, and then half my armor and weapons. It's odd, I'm not entirely sure how it works but....Hope that helps. --Archer7 21:30, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Whoops, didn't notice that date. And yes, it happens to me almost every time I get caught. When I notice I have a bounty I usually just take everything out of my inventory except for the gold. It takes time, but it's better then getting stuff stolen. --Archer7 22:02, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

As explained on the Crime page, any item of a type that you might have stolen is marked as stolen. When you are arrested, all of your stolen items are removed. --Brf 13:42, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
