An Ayleid

The Ayleids, also known as the Heartland High Elves or Wild Elves, are an extinct race of Mer that were first to establish an empire in Tamriel, and had ruled modern-day Cyrodiil for countless years dating back to before recorded history. The Ayleids were the original founders of the Imperial City, which they called the "Temple of the Ancestors". However, their empire collapsed in the early First Era. Amid the various schisms and pogroms of the time, the Ayleids settled in Black Marsh, High Rock, and Valenwood, building many ruins. In Valenwood, they interbred with the local Bosmer before eventually disappearing. Some Bosmer with Ayleid ancestry, such as King Nantharion, have sought to revive Ayleid ideals.

Most of the Ayleids encountered are memories, spirits, or undead. The last "true" living Ayleid is King Laloriaran Dynar. A list of all the Ayleids encountered in ESO can be found here.
