General Malivus uses Daedric Chill

General Malivus is a powerful xivkyn mage found inside the Dragonfire Cathedral. He is Molag Bal's chief enforcer in the Imperial City. He is a skilled warrior and a master tactician. Malivus is leading the effort to destroy the Sublime Brazier so the Dragonfires cannot be relit.

Skills and Abilities

Ice Arrow

A basic ranged attack to one or two targets dealing high frost damage.

Daedric Chill

General Malivus summons temporary AoEs that deal continuous high frost damage and heavily snare all players standing in them. One area spawns under General Malivus and one under every nearby player, for up to four areas. If you stand in two areas, you take damage from both.

Winter's Reach

General Malivus sends three frozen gales whirling forward. If they hit, they deal very high frost damage and root targets. The root bypasses block and the frozen gales do not have indicators.

Quest-Related Events

When you enter the Ancient Underground, you'll find that Malivus is already assaulting the door.

General Malivus: "Take that door down!"

General Malivus: "Faster, you miserable worms! Put your backs into it!"

General Malivus: "Where are you aiming? Focus on the door, you fool!"

General Malivus: "Faster!"

General Malivus: "Ready your weapons! We attack as soon as the door is breached!"

The General's forces will bust down the Cathedral's doors in the middle of Father Egnatius's ritual. You and Caudex will need to meet the siege.

General Malivus: "Assault the Cathedral! Destroy the Brazier! Leave none alive!"

Father Egnatius: "This ritual cannot be interrupted! You must hold the Cathedral until it is complete. Go!"

Captain Caudex: "Follow me. Let's go send these Daedric beasts back to Oblivion!"

General Malivus pre-patch, with no banners

Once you've defeated 40 Daedra, Malivus sends in a Daedroth to act as a siege weapon.

General Malivus: "Useless fools! Send in the beast!"

Captain Caudex: ""The beast?" By the Eight … Daedroth! Get down!"

After the Daedroth has been slain, you must head back to the Drake and the priest. Portals will open in the chamber as the ritual begins to affect the Drake of Blades.

General Malivus: "Slaughter the mortals! Destroy the Brazier!"

Father Egnatius: "Just a bit longer! You must hold!"

Drake of Blades: "My head … what's happening inside my head …?"

When all of his soldiers have been defeated, he enters the Cathedral by way of a portal.

General Malivus: "Useless churls! Must I handle everything myself?"

General Malivus: "Your souls are forfeit. Face the wrath of Molag Bal!"

Captain Caudex: "This is all the wrath that Molag Bal can muster? I'm not impressed."

General Malivus: "Filthy wretch! Kneel, and I may favor you with a quick death!"

When he falls in battle, he yells for his soldiers to flood the Cathedral.

General Malivus: "Gah! Send the rest!"

There was a point where Captain Caudex would have responded to the General's final threat during combat.

General Malivus: "Filthy wretch! Kneel, and I may favor you with a quick death!"

Captain Caudex: "The Legion kneels to none but the Emperor! Now, shut your mouth and die, scum!"
