Tames-the-Beast is an Argonian master beast-handler and an elite member of the Blackguards. He has dominion over a wide variety of creatures, most notably netches, trolls, haj mota and wamasu. All of the animals he controls are very powerful. You will face him during the second and fourth rounds of The Black Gauntlet.
Related Quests[edit]

Abilities[edit]
- Crushing Roots
- The boss will channel a rooting ability (quite literally; he roots you with roots), which roots and damages the affected player. You must roll-dodge to break free.
- Swarm
- The boss will send a swarm of insects to bite a party member. The group must stack on the affected player and share the damage, similar to the Shade of Siroria's Roaring Flare ability from Cloudrest. If the damage is not split between the group, the swarm of insects will kill their target.
- Snipe
- The boss will channel a powerful Snipe from his bow, hitting whomever has him taunted. This ability can be interrupted by bashing the boss.
- Pet Summons
- At certain health percentages, Tames-the-Beast will signal for a powerful monster to join him in battle. At 80% health, he will summon a River Troll, at 60%, he summons a Haj Mota, and at 40% health he summons a Wamasu. It is recommended that the group destroys these adds before putting more damage out onto Tames-the-Beast.
- Enrage
- If the group neglects to kill the Troll, Haj Mota and Wamasu mini-bosses he spawns during the fight, Tames-the-Beast and his remaining pets will enrage, increasing the damage they deal.
Dialogue[edit]
- "Do the challengers expect to win like this?"
- "A foul wind has blown for our challengers, it seems."
- "Ka-ha-ha! These spineless weaklings will never win."
- "Watch as these kuudas struggle. Pathetic."
- "Looks like these limp-fins can't take much more."
- "Finally, the challengers fight back."
- "Is that all these kuudas can muster?"
- "A mire gnat bites harder than these challengers."
- "Was that a hit? I could barely tell."
- "Our prey finally puts up a fight."
- "This is what you bring us, Drakeeh? I remain unimpressed."
- "Finally, some action!"
- "My netches move faster than these so called challengers."
- "A sitting stone would offer more of a challenge."
- "This fight drags like a limp leg."
- "A nix-hound has more common sense than these challengers …."
- "Look at them, running around like headless bantam guars."
- "These are our challengers? Hmm." [verification needed — when exactly he says those last six?]
When he enters the arena:
When he is defeated:
- "You have won, challengers. I yield."
