Collect and learn [10 / 25 / 50] full motifs.

True Style Master and its preceding achievements are awarded for learning 10, 25 and 50 complete style motifs. A completed style motif is defined as learning all chapters in a particular style. Generally, a complete motif is split into 14 chapters, all of which must be read in order to receive credit. Some motifs however are not split into chapters, rather they are compiled into a single book that counts as a complete motif.

Locations[edit]

Motifs can be found in numerous ways. Most of them can only be found from specific locations or under certain circumstances but drop rates are typically small. These include:

  • Random loot — including treasure chests, lockboxes and containers
  • Enemy drops — including regular enemies, Delve bosses, World Bosses and Group Dungeon bosses. The final boss of a Group Dungeon killed in Veteran Hard Mode is guaranteed to drop their associated motif chapter.
  • Possible reward from daily or weekly quests
  • Bought from special vendors associated with the Alliance War and Battlegrounds
  • Pickpocketing
  • Fishing
  • Crafting
  • Psijic Portals — Crafting motifs associated with the zone the portal was found in (e.g. Sapiarch motif chapters found in Summerset portals)
  • Crown Crates — Offers various DLC-related motif books or chapters, depending on the season.
  • Crown Store — Offers exclusive Crown Store styles, alongside motif books from the base game and selected DLCs.

Guild Stores[edit]

Players can bypass manually searching for most motifs and buy them directly from Guild Stores. While this popular method can prove to be expensive in the long run, it gives all players the chance to find particularly rare motifs or motifs from DLCs they don't own. With the exception of Crown Store exclusives, all motifs can be found for sale in Guild Stores. This method obviously depends on market availability, and you may find that you will have to wait a while if a motif chapter is not currently for sale from any guild trader.

Achieving 50[edit]

Learning 50 complete motifs can be both expensive and time consuming. There are an ever-growing number of available crafting styles, but this achievement cannot be earned with base game content alone. DLC-specific motifs account for over half of the known crafting styles, meaning players either require access to the DLC or must buy DLC motifs from Guild Stores.

  • 27 motifs are found in the base game
  • 48 motifs are introduced in DLCs
  • 3 motifs are Crown Store exclusives
  • 3 motifs were only available during holiday events, though the event motifs are usually still available in Guild Stores.

Alternatively, participating in the Anniversary Jubilee events each spring is a great way to acquire DLC-exclusive motifs even if you do not have access to them, since you can potentially earn up to 7 rare motifs per day for each character simply by doing Crafting Writs.

Full List[edit]

While the source of motifs can be checked in Menu > Collections > Armor/Weapon Styles and hovering over the image of the item, the descriptions are sometimes vague or incomplete.
