Crafted vs Dropped[edit]
One thing to keep in mind is that crafted armor of the same material and level has higher base armor value than a dropped one (that's of course true for all materials, not only steel, and also for any other craftable types of items). Should the armor values of dropped variants also be added to the page, or is it only intended for the crafted ones? --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 01:29, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
- That is a good question. I would say there should be different sections on each page, for crafted and for dropped items. Do dropped items of the same level and quality have the same stats? So that we can simply specify what the stats are without actually listing all of them. What about PvP items? Are their stats different as well? It seems to me that our mined item database is not very accurate at the moment for checking these, as it is a mix of pre- and post-Update 6 stats... ~Shuryard (talk) 11:24, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

- Well, for starters, I compared three v14 voidsteel epic helmets: one stolen from the world, one crafted, and one sold by the elite gear vendor in Cyrodiil. The stolen one's armor value was 2257. The elite one's was 2595, but it had the Reinforced trait, and after subtracting its effect we also get 2257. The crafted one's armor value was 2285. So I guess that there are only two categories. But there's another problem: icons. Stealable armor's look isn't determined by its level, and it can have a high-level style at low levels and vice versa. In case of weapons, stealable ones can even have tier 5 style, which isn't achievable by crafting (highest level crafted weapons have tier 4 style). So it's all pretty confusing and hard to document. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 14:15, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

- We should of course document both crafted and looted gear's stats. As for the looks of the stolen gear: wouldn't a note at the bottom of the page, something like "Stolen armor/weapons may look like armor/weapons of any level.", suffice? -- SarthesArai Talk 14:41, 5 July 2015 (UTC)

- Yes, I think icons are probably out of the question for dropped/stolen/PvP ones on gear pages. Also, sets have their own pages, with icons, so at least they are covered. I think all this information is exactly what can make up "Found", or something along those lines, section on gear pages. ~Shuryard (talk) 15:09, 5 July 2015 (UTC)
