Defile : To make filthy or dirty; pollute.
Befile : (From Middle English befilen, from Old English befȳlan (“to befoul, defile, make dirty”)
While the second word is either dialectal or obsolete, they mean the same. It is not a misspelling, nor an error in diction, so I removed the [sic]. Kalevala (talk) 02:25, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
