Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

You'll find an Argonian named Shines-Like-Stone in Ald Marak's Kogotel. He's on the same floor as the entrance, in a small side room. He was bought and freed, but his companion - an Argonian named Gulveeus - was not so lucky, and has remained enslaved in the nearby Elval Tradehouse. Shines-Like-Stone asks if you can intercede with the Elval family. He is quite clear that the freedom he wants for Gulveeus isn't life as a fugitive, so stresses the need to gain the family's consent.

Cross the bridge out of Ald Marak and enter the Elval Tradehouse on the other side of it. Look for Gavryn Elval on the bottom floor. At 70+ disposition, he will admit his unease about even owning a slave, and will ask you to make a deal with his daughter, Lorin Elval. She tends the bar on the top floor. Asking her about Gulveeus will see her counter with a need to see an increase in revenue that will permit her to free Gulveeus and pay him a wage. She'll point you towards Savile Delenu at the Mavandes Caravanserai as a mer who can make this happen.

The caravanserai will be marked on your map, and stands to the southeast of Ald Marak. You'll find Savile running the trader store. He's distinctly uncomplimentary about Ald Marak, but will consent to point more caravans its way with a one-off payment of 1,000 gold. You can alternatively raise his disposition to 90+ to convince him that the town's worth is more than negligible.

Return now to Lorin to inform her that more caravans will be on their way. She'll agree to free Gulveeus, allowing you to go back to Shines-Like-Stone with the good news - completing the quest.

Notes[edit]

  • Speaking to Gavryn Elval after Gulveuus is freed will set his Mercantile to 30 - making for much cheaper prices on his goods.
  • The Elval Tradehouse Slave Key that opens Gulveuus' bracers lies on a crate in a room on the east side of the bottom floor of the Elval Tradehouse - but freeing him this way will net no reward.
