Why?[edit]

I'm not really sure why we need this at all, but it's way, way too complex. What's wrong with just this: <span style="font-variant:small-caps;">High Chancellor Ocato</span>, which gives High Chancellor Ocato. Messing around with font sizes kind of defeats the purpose of the small caps. rpeh •TCE 17:41, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

It's actually used to ease functionality of {{pronunciation}}. It can be used a stand-alone template, but for now that's why I am using it. If you don't need it, then don't use it. NBD. elliot (talk) 17:56, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
A much belated follow-up, but I've simplified the template to rpeh's original suggestion. Nine years later, {{Pronunciation}} is still the only thing calling this template, and it only uses the first parameter, so that's the only usage this template now supports. If we decide we need the older functionality, it would still be better written as a template and sub-template, using MetaTemplate to extend the parameter range indefinitely. In the same vein, I removed the wrap parameter, since it wasn't used anywhere. If we need it, {{Nowrap}} can be used to provide the same functionality without cluttering up this template.
