Welcome![edit]
Hey FioFioFio and welcome to the UESPWiki! It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:
- Policies and Guidelines: UESPWiki standards and expectations
- Help Contents: a list of in-depth Help pages
- Quick Editing Guide: a quick guide to wiki markup
- Getting Started: how you can help
- Uploading Images: Guidelines on image standardization
If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.
When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).
Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games on the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun!

Regarding the images, I suggest that
- Treat all images featuring a NPC as NPC images/NPC story images.
- Name them ON-npc-Name, ON-npc-Name-02 and so on. The first image is often the "main" image used on the NPC page, and is a 1:1 square, while the story images are 4:3 ratio.
- Use image categories "NPC image" and "NPC Story image" like you did: in my eyes these categories are sufficient.
- You now have properly named and categorized images! It's perfectly okay to use these on quest pages. In fact, why not add them to both NPC and quest pages.
- Mixing with naming conventions and categories might create confusion, so try to avoid it (for example ON-quest-weakened Vivec is incorrect, it mixes npc and quest image naming). The quest images should only be named as ON-quest-Quest Name, ON-quest-Quest Name 02 so nothing else is needed there! This standard goes for all big image categories (NPC, Quest, Place).
- If you feel you need to add a more precise description (which I completely understand), put it in the file description ;) Example: for "ON-npc-Seryn 02.jpg", just add a description "Seryn possessed by Azura" Tib (talk) 08:09, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
NPC Classes[edit]
Hey Fio. Just letting you know - I'm compiling a list of the NPC classes on my sandbox. There's... well, there's a lot of them. :) Timeoin (talk) 01:30, 27 September 2017 (UTC)
- Also, theres a proposal to have a page for the npc class types. (My mental image was to have class redirect to the appropriate header there. :) Timeoin (talk)
Userpatroller?[edit]
Hey Fio, you are a great contributor to the wiki and showed interest earlier this week in becoming a Userpatroller. You are definitely qualified for the job. It is the first step towards becoming more involved with the UESP and let's you add a neat userbox to your page. If you're interested, just add your name to the Userpatroller page under applicants. --Ilaro (talk) 23:21, 19 October 2017 (UTC)
Congratulations![edit]
Per your request, you are now a userpatroller! With this comes the ability to patrol edits in userspace! Consider reviewing Patrolling Guidelines for how to patrol. You may also now add the {{User Userspace Patroller}} userbox to your userpage. Congratulations, once again! --AKB Talk Cont Mail 03:19, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
You deserve this one![edit]
You have been given a shiny gold star! Not a cookie, but you definitely deserve this one! Your edits are always high quality and I don't want to know what the Legends namespace would look like without you! --Ilaro (talk) 22:39, 24 October 2017 (UTC) |
Congratulations! The Sequel![edit]
Per your successful nomination, you are now a patroller! With this comes the ability to patrol edits in a much wider area of the site. Consider reviewing Patrolling Guidelines for how to patrol. You may also now add the User Patroller userbox to your userpage. Congratulations, once again! --AKB Talk Cont Mail 09:14, 31 December 2017 (UTC)
Headers[edit]
Let me take this opportunity to remind you that consistency of presentation is one of the most important parts of a wiki, especially an encyclopedic one. Consistent headers allow readers to know what section to head to on any similar page for similar information. Just because an innate amount of laziness is apparent in so-called dialogue-dumps does not negate the fact that those sections will in the future be properly formatted and written as a description of the events. Laziness begets laziness, so do not try to foist that laziness on to future editors by allowing them to think that a badly written article is OK because some editor refused to allow the correct header to be on the page. - The wiki’s purpose is to display information such that people can find information that they’re looking for. Accuracy in labeling things is more important than blind adherence to standards that might not be the best fit for a new game.
- If you’re worried about laziness, put some effort into fleshing those pages out yourself. --FioFioFio (talk) 18:57, 15 June 2018 (UTC)

- If you paid attention you might have noticed that every header that was QR Dialogue was changed to Events, this is because everyone who cared to have their say on the Community Portal agreed that the header was incorrect. There is no reason this section needs to be renamed for Online, considering that once those pages are properly written the header will be 100% accurate on every page. The header itself encourages the right edits to be made, and putting "accurate" headers discourages people from making edits that take it away from that "accuracy". Your opinion is totally out-of-step with the rest of the wiki and has been proven undesired. It is also ludicrous to call ESO a "new" game in order to force a change, considering it has been around for four years and any incompatible standards have already been found and dealt with. - What’s more discouraging to editors is continuous implied statements that they’re idiots or lazy. When you’re willing to cut the attitude and put as much effort into actually writing pages as you do in arguing with people, let me know. Until then, do not continue to message me. --FioFioFio (talk) 19:13, 15 June 2018 (UTC)
