This enormous totem is carved in the shape of an distended skull? I think this marked a forbidden place. I suspect it dates back to the Blackwater War. Resisting Argonians often warned the invading Imperials to stay away from their holy places. | Saxhleel totems can stand for many things. A skull almost always stands for Raj-Sithis, destroyer and bringer of change. However, I have never seen a Black Marsh Nisswo carry or display a totem quite like this. | I can shed some light on that! Corelanya accounts of their early years in exile on Solstice mention a secret cult of Argonian assassins known as "Death Dancers." The Elven records describe similar totems left by the bodies of their victims. So this is likely a death cult icon from that distant isle. |
