Some reflections[edit]
Hi all, here are some reflections on the project - keen for thoughts!
- As we've taken the (correct) approach of focusing the Remastered content on essentially checking the differences with the base game, I think we need to give more prominence here to the "base" projects (OPRP, OBNPCRP, OBHRP) rather than relegating them to a section down at the bottom. After all, if we don't have written & confirmed information for the base game, we will not be able to conclusively decide whether e.g. an NPC's schedule or the items in a dungeon have changed. The first step we need to take is trying to complete those projects IMO, so we could even have that as one of the first "tasks" listed. I know this is tricky because many people won't have the original game, but to be honest we're at the stage where e.g. on the OBNPCRP almost everything is written (see here) and what requires checking can be done via the CS List even if one doesn't have the game and access to the CS.
- I would suggest removing house contents from the NPC task list template as we have house place pages (previously house info was indeed on NPC pages). We are already have the relevant template set up on house pages too.
- I initially found the In-Game Work section a bit confusing when it came to the Images section (and sub-sections) as, at least to my eyes, the latter are barely distinguishable from the former. Perhaps we could just insert a line break after the last sub-section?
- There is also no specific section for NPCs in the In-Game Work section, though I guess much is already covered in the NPC section of the Task List. Perhaps we could link explicitly to the OBNPCRP guidelines for in-game NPC work?
- A second point on images: do we want to have a strong preference (if not guideline) for the shot to be similar to the original (e.g. in terms of location, pose, etc)? I like the effect that can create when flipping through the tabs, but if it complicates things with regards to e.g. getting good lighting, then no worries. Probably also depends on where we land with the question of full-body vs close-up.

- A couple thoughts:
- Yes, those other projects remain the basis of our Oblivion documentation for both versions of the game. As you say, we need this initial work done in order to compare and document any differences. In my opinion, new content added by OBR should be brought into scope for those existing projects. So far, entirely new content is limited to the Deluxe Edition quests, but e.g. I've added Oblivion:Mehrunes' Harbinger to the OBNPCRP.
- Agreed.
- So far I think the bulk of this project's work will be screenshots. This page was drafted prior to the announcement, so feel free to reword now that we understand the tasks better.
- Agreed as above.
- It is a nice effect, but I don't think we need to be so prescriptive. It's better to have any image than have no image, as long as the OBR screenshot complies with our image standards. I think the priority at the moment should be to get the tab feature working on mobile.

- I would agree with this, as well as Lego's additions
- Sorry, this is probably a product of me rushing to get it done since the game was basically already out, and I copied my Morrowind project, which needed to focus on houses because the houses weren't already present as full pages in that namespace.
- Agreed as well.
- Also agreed. I definitely didn't want the original projects to get "lost" in the work for the OBR, which was why I listed them, I just didn't have as good of an understanding of the current state of those projects and thus didn't want to write something up without knowing that. Please feel free to write up some basic guidelines to cover completing those projects and add it below the general task list.
- I did include the following note in the image instructions: "For the main image on each page, ideally the image should be taken at the same angle (for place images) and location (for NPC images) as the image from the original game". This also would apply to any images that were featured at some point in time. Ideally, but not required. Is that what you mean? Or do you mean a stronger preference? - Thank you very much both! In response:
- I've had a go at rejigging stuff to make this point - see what you think!
- No worries. I'd remove it from the template myself but as not my specialty and given it's a much used one, I'll leave for you guys to handle.
- Added a couple of line breaks, hopefully aids readability.
- Redrafted the tasks a bit and included a specific NPC section, where I mostly just moved the detail from the task list.
- Sorry I'd somehow missed that line. In which case, all good, I think that's perfect. --SerCenKing (talk) 21:00, 29 April 2025 (UTC)

- In regards to the fifth point about images, I do wonder if there should be more specific guidelines on this page when it comes to brightness settings. While there are obviously guidelines on Help:Images, this remaster has far darker interiors at default brightness settings than any previous TES title, especially in dungeons, so if visibility is considered important it may be good to be clearer on this.
